Shipping Procedures

- Box Heart recommends that all artists become extremely familiar with the policies and procedures of their chosen shipping carrier. It is important to understand that in many cases, artists will not receive full retail value of the art work, damaged by a shipping carrier, regardless of insurance.

- Artists must be aware that most shipping carriers are specific with their policies on art work because art work cannot always be given a value that remains consistent or can be proven accurate.

- Artists must also be aware that the packaging of your work will be called into question if the art work is damaged by the shipping carrier. All shipping carriers recommend that items such as works on canvas, sculpture and ceramics be crated and packaged properly and according to their specifications in order for a monetary loss to be determined acceptable.

- Artists that are shipping work must be aware that Box Heart can NOT be held accountable for damage caused by the shipping carrier. Box Heart is liable for art work only while it is in our possession and on our premises. When art work is in transit to or from our gallery, it is the liability of the artist.

- At the completion of our exhibitions, Box Heart repackages and returns art work to each artist using the exact materials and methods the work was originally set to us in. For this reason, we require that artists send us a prepaid shipping label from a selected shipping carrier for the return of art work at the time we receive the art work for exhibition.

- We require this procedure so that artists have the opportunity to select their own shipping carrier, insurance specifications, and special shipping requirements such as: Ground Services, Express Services, Home Deliveries, Signatures, etc.

- Art work must arrive at Box Heart at least one day prior to the hanging of the exhibition. Please note, artists can send their art work early for use in our consignment gallery and other exhibitions. This is highly recommended as we can not sell your work or gain customer interest without it being here.

- Below artists will find shipping maximums for UPS and FED EX. If your art work exceeds these maximums, you will need freight shipping. Box Heart recommends that in either case, insurance does not exceed 60% of the retail value of the work. This will greatly limit your expense.

UPS MAXIMUMS
- Weight 150 lbs
- Total Inches 130 inches

FED EX MAXIMUMS
- Weight 70 lbs
- Total Inches 130 inches

Total Inches is determined by this formula: 2W + 2H = girth + length = Total Inches

- Box Heart recommends that International artists package their work as condensed as possible and use the services of the United States Postal Service. For example: canvas sent rolled in tubes, works on paper sent unframed, etc. International artists should also be aware of customs fees when setting a value for the work they are sending over seas. Artists that declare a value for their art work that exceeds custom declaration limits will be responsible for "receiving bills" that Box Heart pays to allow delivery of their art work to the gallery.
