I
paint as a means to express, in a physical form, what
I feel internally. I attempt to give shape and color
to emotion in such a way that the viewer can feel
what I feel, and still interpret his/her own meaning.
Presently, my preferred creative style is "Abstract
Impressionism". I have been strongly influenced by
such artists as: Twombly, Pollock, Chagal, Duchamp,
and Bacon.
I began my artistic career painting nudes, but have
found painting abstracts to be both personally and
spiritually more revealing. Certain forms and colors
have become autobiographical, making many pieces self-portraits,
while certain other forms and colors represent specific
people in my life. The viewer usually does not realize
that he is looking in an abstract snapshot of my life,
nor does he have to, as the emotional aspects of my
work are universal.
My ultimate goal, for the finished piece, is to move
the viewer's emotions to approach mine. To remind
the viewer that emotions are both isolating and unifying,
and inspire that viewer to trust in his own emotions.
