Night of Drinking
Salvaged Wood Collage

Alex Lobus

Alex Lobus has been creating functional and artistic works of art from his secluded lair in the South Hills of Pittsburgh for 8 years. He primarily works with salvaged house parts because he appreciates the beauty of time and weathering and the changing tastes that each element exhibits. Finishing each piece of wood is like excavating an archaeological site. The dirtiest, grimiest most forlon looking piece of wood often yields the most beautiful result.

Lobus has combined elements of every technique and style he has learned over the years to create something new this year; an intarsia-like process using only salvaged wood.
