Donatelli
Donatelli
is a multistoried, many roomed schizophrenic Tower
of Babel, who makes art. Art type, style and affect
rendered are contingent upon which rooms on which
combinations are lit up in his mind. Rooms higher
up and / or basic "on" mean, perhaps, fundamental
spiritual-religious-primoridal renderings are in the
offing. A combination of resentful-envious-hateful-cynical
lit rooms indicate a Cultural Satire cartoon is on
its way. Donatelli lives in his mind and pours the
art from his mind to his canvas. Salvador Dali said,
"The difference between me and a madman is I'm
not mad!" Donatelli says, "The difference
between me and a lot of madmen is that I make art."
His work explores the similarities and differences
that exist between mystical experiences. From his
diagnosis of Schizophrenia, to his battle between
the agony and ecstasy of drug use, to his fear of
the outside world, Donatelli challenges his emotional
turmoil in his art.
