George
and Deborah Kollar
Deborah Kollar's work
is inspired by the tradition and techniques of traditional
Oriental brush painting. For Deborah, the philosophy
of Sumi-e is contrast and harmony, expressing simple
beauty and elegance. The art of brush painting, aims
to depict the spirit, rather than the semblance of
the object. In creating a picture the artist must
grasp the spirit of the subject.
George Kollar's work is inspired by the tradition
and techniques of black and white photography. Unlike
the philosophy of Sumi-e, George aims to depict the
semblance of objects in Western Culture. From his
series of cemetery stones to his series of mannequins
and motorcycles, George works to fulfill his own creative
vision.
