Nzuji
de Magalhaes
Nzuji
de Magalhaes, a native of Angola, Africa, bases her
work on the traditional, cultural and contemporary
art forms that have further developed here in the
United States. Her work not only emphasizes on the
labor and its aesthetics, but also on the political
and social issues of her native home and this country.
As
a black, female artist, her work brings forward issues
that personally and socially affected her, such as
concerns regard to minority women and child labor,
and minority street vendors here and overseas.
Magalhaes'
work brings forward a cultural and traditional presence
that many minority artists have given and are still
giving in this country and the world.
